I am pleased to announce the start of an art class BLOG!! I will be updating it regularly (as regular as possible!) with due dates, fun pictures, and other awesome things that are happening in ART!!
First up on the blogosphere is the project Basic Design is turning in on WEDNESDAY (that means those beautiful sugar skulls are due in TWO DAYS, Artists!)
We learned about the Dia De Los Muertes (AKA the Days of the Dead), which is a Mexican tradition honoring loved ones who have passed away. One tradition that has been practiced for a few hundred years is the creation of sugar skulls. Check out http://www.mexicansugarskull.com/support/dodhistory.html for the brief history of the tradition! Here are a few examples of what sugar skulls can look like (2-dimensional and 3-dimensional!), and student examples will be posted as soon as they are graded!
