In Basic Design, we will be exploring the elements of Art and Design, which include Line, Shape, Color, Space, Value, Texture, and Form, and the Principles of Art and Design, which include Pattern, Balance, Unity, Rhythm, Movement, Emphasis, and Contrast. We will discover different ways to use each of these elements and principles in our artwork this year. By the end of this year, you should be able to identify these elements and principles in your own work, your classmates’ work, and in the work of famous artists. You should also be able to actively participate in a classroom critique, being able to effectively give and take constructive criticism.
Late work will only be accepted up to one day after it is due. Work turned in the day after it is due will receive a 20 percent deduction. Work will NOT be accepted two or more days late! If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get and make up any missing work! archived:
2019-2020 January 13-17 Exam Week! January 6-10 WE are going to be turning in our Stamping Project, picking out a piece for the art show, and starting exam prep! December 16-20 We are going to be turning in our Bugs project and starting Stamping Patterns! December 9-13 We are going to be working on our Shattered Value Bugs Project, and starting practices for our stamping project! December 2-6 We will be starting to learn about Value! We will also be starting a value shading project. November 25-27 Thanksgiving Week! We have a half day of school on Wednesday, and no school Thursday and Friday! We are working on our Op Art, which is due Friday December 6th! November 18-22 We are starting our big Op Art project! November 11-15 We are starting our Op Art Practices and our Project toward the end of the week! November 4 - 8 We are working on finishing Sugar Skulls, and starting Op Art toward the end of the week! October 28 - November 1 We are working on starting our final Sugar Skull Projects! October 21-25 We are working on our Sugar Skull Practices! October 14 - 18 We are finishing up and turning in leaf paintings, and starting sugar skull practice! October 7 - October 11 Contour Line Projects due, learning about color, doing watercolor practice, and starting to paint our leaves! September 30 - October 4 We are working on the backgrounds of our Contour Line Projects! September 23-27 We are working on Contour Line Projects! September 16-20 We are going to be looking at contour lines and turning in our Vans Art Challenges! September 9-13 Syllabus and Tissues/ Sharpies due MONDAY! We are going to be working on our portfolios for most of the week, and may start Contour Line toward the end of the week! September 3-6 Welcome to Basic Design! We will be doing a few art challenges, looking at the syllabus and rules, and starting to look at our first Element of Art... Line! REMINDER: Signed syllabus is due Monday!! |
