Syllabus In Sculpture, we will be exploring many different types of 3-dimensional art. We will learn about form, embossing, engraving, relief sculpture, carving, additive sculpture, and many other types of sculpture. We will use many different types of media to create art, including paper, soap, foil, metal, plaster, cardboard, etc. By the end of the course, you should also be able to actively participate in a classroom critique, being able to effectively give and take constructive criticism. Late work will only be accepted up to one day after it is due. Work turned in the day after it is due will receive a 20 percent deduction. Work will NOT be accepted two or more days late! If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get and make up any missing work! ARCHIVED 2015-2016 May 31-June 3 Students are finishing hands and starting their final sculpture project, alternative paper mache animals! May 23-27 Students are finishing book sculptures and starting plaster hands! May 16-20 We are going to be finishing painting our straw sculptures and working on a book sculpture project! May 9-13 We are finishing and mounting soap carvings and also working on starting paper straw sculptures! May 2-6 We are finishing our dragons this week and starting our next project, soap carvings! April 25-29 We are going to be finishing adding scales and wings to our dragons this week! April 18-22 We are going to be painting our dragons and adding scales this week! April 11-15 (The schedule is a bit different this week due to state testing!) We are going to be finishing the plaster on our dragons this week and start adding a layer of tempera before making scales! March 28 - April 1 We are starting our wire armatures for plaster dragons this week! March 21-24 (No School Good Friday!) Students are creating metal embossed masks this week! Next up, wire and plaster sculptures! March 14-18 It's STEAM FAIR WEEK! (our art show PLUS projects from other classes too! takes place in the high school gym during conferences this Thursday the 17th!) We are also going to be working on finishing up our fingerprint sculptures, and matting them for the art show! March 7-11 We are going to finish tape sculptures when our order comes in, but in the meantime, balsa foam fingerprint sculptures! February 29 - March 4 Students are working on their packaging tape sculptures and we are also going to be voting on and starting to design our Vans Shoes!! February 22-26 We will be working on our packaging tape sculptures! February 16-19 We are finishing our Chihuly Glass Sculptures and starting our packaging tape projects! February 8-11 (reminder no school for students Friday the 12th or Monday the 15th!) we are starting our Chihuly-Inspired "Glass" sculptures! February 1-5 We are going to be designing shoes for the Vans Custom Culture Contest this week! |
