Syllabus
In Ceramics, we will be working with clay. This is a course designed for students of all levels, from those who have never touched clay to those who are very experienced with this medium. We will learn about the history of clay in many forms, and will be learning about many different types of hand building such as pinching, coiling, slab building, and possibly throwing (on the pottery wheel) toward the end of the trimester. We will learn about kiln firing, and also about different decoration techniques such as sgraffito, underglazing, glazing, oxides, and others. We will focus on skill building and craftsmanship as well as creating successful pieces of art. Students will also learn how to participate in a critique, and will evaluate their own projects as well.
LATE WORK WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED ONE DAY AFTER DUE DATE! LATE WORK WILL RECEIVE A 20% DEDUCTION IF ONE DAY LATE, AND WILL RECEIVE NO CREDIT TWO OR MORE DAYS LATE. |
